Editorial policy

Independence

• Nobody pays for placement. No manufacturer, retailer or agency has paid to appear on this site, to rank higher on it, or to have a product mentioned. None has been offered the option.
• No sponsored posts, ever. There is no page on this site written by or for a third party, and there never will be. If that changes we will label it unmistakably, at the top, before you read a word of it.
• No free products accepted. We have not taken review units, loan units, samples or discounts from anyone. This is easy for us to promise because we do not test products at all — but it also means there is no relationship to bias us.
• Commission rates do not affect rankings. They differ between products and we do not consult them when ordering a list. Several pages here rank a cheaper machine first, which is what an honest ranking looks like from the inside.

Accuracy and sourcing

• Every specification traces to a manufacturer document.Motor rating, capacity, warranty term and attachments come from the manufacturer’s own spec sheet, product page, manual or warranty page — never from another review site, never from a retailer’s marketing bullet, and never from memory. The source is linked on the page where the figure appears.
• The build enforces it. This is not only a policy. Every specification in our product data carries a required source field, and a specification without a working source URL fails the site build rather than rendering. A rule someone has to remember erodes; a rule that breaks the deploy does not.
• “Not published” is a valid answer. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, we write that. The clearest case is noise: most blender makers publish no decibel rating, and we will not estimate a measurement we did not take.
• No fabricated prices, ratings or review counts.Prices come live from Amazon’s API and vanish after 48 hours rather than going stale. We publish no star ratings of our own beyond the editorial score explained on the methodology page, and we never present an Amazon rating as our own assessment.
• No AI-generated product claims without a cited source. Drafting tools are used in producing this site. No factual claim about a product reaches publication on their say-so — every number is checked against the manufacturer document that is linked beside it.

Honesty about what we are

• We do not test blenders, and we say so on every page that ranks one. Not in a footnote — in a block you cannot miss, above the fold on the methodology page and in the body of every roundup.
• No invented credentials. Stephen V.is an enthusiast. He is not an expert, a specialist, a veteran, a chef or a certified anything, and none of those words will ever appear next to his name here. There is no expert panel and nothing is “reviewed by” a professional we have not hired.
• No implied experience.The phrases “in our testing”, “we found”, “we noticed” and “we have been using” do not appear on this site, because they would not be true.
• Every pick names a reason to skip it. Without exception. A list where everything is excellent is an advert.

Corrections

Send anything you believe is wrong to info@basketandblade.com. What happens then:

• Verified errors are fixed within seven days of us confirming them against a primary source.
• Corrections are dated on the page. We do not edit quietly and let the record close over it. If a figure changes materially, the page says what changed and when.
• Safety corrections jump the queue. In this category that principally means anything about blending hot liquid, which is a genuine injury risk and is handled with a manufacturer citation for every claim.
• Dates are real.No page here has its “updated” date bumped without the content actually changing. Refreshing a date to look current is a small lie told at scale, and this category is full of it.

Update cadence

Published so it can be checked against the dates on our pages. Several competitors currently rank with blender content last touched in 2021 and 2023; freshness is a real competitive weakness in this category and we intend to keep our end of it.
