The short version

Basket & Blade is funded by affiliate commissions. If you click a buy button on this site and then purchase something, the retailer may pay us a percentage of that sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid arriving there any other way.

As an Amazon Associate, Type 5 Marketing LLC earns from qualifying purchases. Basket & Blade is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

How to spot an affiliate link on this site

You should never have to guess. Three things mark every one of them:

• Color. Buy buttons are the only orange elements on this site. Every other link — navigation, in-body links, related reading — is green. If it is orange, it goes to a retailer and it may earn us money. That is a design rule we hold to deliberately, so the distinction survives even if you never read a word of this page.
• The label. Every buy button names the retailer it goes to, and carries a #ad marker with a link back here.
• The disclosure block. A visible notice appears above the first affiliate link on every page that has one — not only in the footer, because a footer disclosure is not something a reader sees before clicking.

Technically, our buy buttons pass through a /go/ link on our own domain before continuing to the retailer. That exists so we can change where a product link points without rewriting an article, and so we can count clicks. It carries no advertising cookies of ours, and it is excluded from search engines.

Which retailers we have a relationship with

Right now: Amazon, and nobody else.Basket & Blade launched in July 2026, and a new site has not been approved by any other affiliate network yet. That is the normal state of a new publisher rather than something we are hiding.

Where we mention a brand’s own store — Vitamix, Blendtec, Ninja, NutriBullet, Braun and others — those links earn us nothing at all, and we say so on the page. We would rather send you to the better place to buy than to the only place that pays us.

What the commission does not buy

• A ranking. Commission rates differ between products and we do not look them up when ordering a list. On several pages here the cheapest machine wins, which is the opposite of what a commission-led ranking would produce.
• Inclusion. No manufacturer has paid to appear on this site, and none has been offered the option.
• Softer language.Every product we recommend carries a “skip this if…” line naming a real reason not to buy it. Those lines cost us conversions on purpose.
• Free products. We have not accepted any, from anyone.

About the prices you see here

Prices come from Amazon’s product API and are stamped with the date they were last checked — most recently Jul 21, 2026. Amazon prices change constantly, sometimes several times a day, and the price at checkout is always the one that counts.

If our price data is more than 48hours old, the number is removed automatically and the button reverts to “check price”. It never falls back to the last figure we knew. This costs us clicks and it is the right trade: a stale price is a small lie told to a reader who is about to spend money.

What we do with your data

We do not sell it and we do not build profiles. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages lead to buy clicks, which is the only way we can tell whether any of this is working. Retailers set their own cookies once you arrive on their site, under their own policies, which we do not control. Our privacy policy has the detail.

Why we are this specific about it

The US Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection between a publisher and a seller be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, in a place a reader will actually see before acting. That is the legal floor. The practical reason is simpler: this site’s entire argument is that we publish the things other people leave out, and it would be a strange site that applied that standard to warranty terms but not to its own finances.
